Private Classes

I give private classes in painting and drawing in my Halifax studio for one or two students at a time. Lessons are custom designed for the needs of the student.

Figure Drawing

Twice a month for most of the year I have figure drawing sessions with a nude model. These are held Saturday mornings from nine to noon at a local community centre in a lovely room with excellent lighting. The sessions are not classes, but a chance for artists at any stage of their development to practice. The format is half an hour of gesture poses, and then one long pose for painting or studies.

Workshops

I give workshops on drawing, painting and illustration -- working with artist societies, and schools from primary to high school.

Readings

Children and adults alike seem to enjoy the readings I do of my books. I like to tell the story -- the one in the book --  the back story -- what I learned in my research -- and the back-back story -- how and why I did the illustrations the way I did.
